Turn AI drafts into
clear writing.

Stop Slop is a free editing skill for Claude, ChatGPT, and Codex. It removes generic wording and repeated sentence patterns while preserving your facts and voice.

Use it for emails, memos, posts, website copy, docs, and reports.

    01 / What it does

    Fix more than
    the buzzwords.

AI drafts can be grammatically clean and still sound generic. Stop Slop reviews the wording, sentence patterns, evidence, and voice before returning a clean rewrite.

    1. 01

      Generic wording

Finds inflated vocabulary, canned openers, and filler that delays the point.

    2. 02

      Repeated templates

Catches binary contrasts, forced triads, rhetorical setups, and uniform rhythm.

    3. 03

      Weak evidence

Keeps uncertainty visible and stops a rewrite from inventing support.

    4. 04

      Voice drift

Removes the AI texture without turning every writer into the same person.

    Where it helps

Use it when a draft sounds polished but generic.

    Work writing

    Emails, memos, and leadership updates.

    Public writing

Posts, website copy, and launch text.

    Technical writing

Documentation, research notes, and product explanations.

    Detect only

Review a draft and flag the problems without rewriting it.

    How it works

The skill reviews the draft in this order.

    1. 01Protect factsClaim, evidence, uncertainty
    2. 02Check AI's roleWho chose the first shape?
    3. 03Fix structureArgument before polish
    4. 04Write plainlyCommon words, full logic
    5. 05Cut residueWords, patterns, formatting
    6. 06Read againAs a new reader
    02 / Before line edits

    Who chose the first shape?

If AI chose the claim, outline, and first example, word cleanup will preserve the model's center. Put the draft aside, recover the human point, then rebuild.

    Read the AI-role check
    Anti-anchoring pass
    1. Put the current draft aside.
    2. Write the point without borrowing its nouns or order.
    3. List the evidence and uncertainty that must survive.
    4. Rebuild around the reader's needed action or understanding.
    03 / Workbench

    Review the residue.

This browser pass finds phrases and detectable patterns. It gives editing prompts. It does not identify authorship.

    0 words
    Review 0 prompts
replace by default check in context pattern or opener
    04 / Core rules

    Eleven checks.
    One readable draft.

The rules are ordered by reader consequence. They protect substance before they polish the sentence.

    1. 01

      Cut filler

Remove throat-clearing, empty emphasis, decorative jargon, and hedges that do no useful work.

    2. 02

      Break formulas

State the point directly. Keep a contrast only when it rejects a belief the reader actually holds.

    3. 03

      Name responsibility

Name the actor for judgment or choice. Keep ordinary literal subjects when they are clearer.

    4. 04

      Be specific

Replace vague importance with the action, limit, reason, evidence, or consequence.

    5. 05

      Keep the reader close

Use the actor, object, and situation instead of distant abstractions.

    6. 06

      Vary rhythm

Mix sentence and paragraph shapes. Keep factual lists and break rhetorical triads.

    7. 07

      Trust the reader

State the point without reassurance or repeated justification.

    8. 08

      Control quotables

Neutral prose needs none. A hook or launch can earn one deliberate line.

    9. 09

      Earn emphasis

Show the change or tension instead of announcing it.

    10. 10

      Check the AI role

Recover the human center before line editing an AI-first draft.

    11. 11

      Protect clarity

Rewrite instead of deleting the logic, definition, or bridge a new reader needs.

    05 / Reference library

    Pressure points,
    not proof.

A flagged word can be correct. A clean word list can still hide a templated argument. Use the library to review, then decide.

Stop Slop is not just a writing skill. It is a complete shift in how teams communicate. So what does this mean? The future is already here.

    After

    Make the second pass inspectable.

When the last pass changes several sentences or touches a central claim, Stop Slop can build a small HTML proof with the first draft, final draft, and sentence-level diff.
